Gloria Jean Preston, CSB

Christian Science Teacher and Practitioner

St. Louis, Missouri

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Christ Jesus

My name is Gloria Preston. I am an authorized teacher of Christian Science. I teach about the laws of God which, when brought to bear on our thinking and living, will bring out the natural harmony in our lives that we were designed to reflect.

As a teen, I began to feel a deep intuition about the presence and power of a profoundly loving God. Knowing and feeling the nature of God’s infinite love and the wise government of His universe became increasingly important to me.

The question that kept recurring was, “How does God know Himself and all of His creation?” I desired to know Him as He knows Himself and felt His pleasure in this. Christian Science had found my mother during a time of great need, and it had changed her life. I longed to find this same satisfaction for spiritual things, instead of riding on her experiences. Several remarkable physical healings came as a result of my study of Christian Science that put me on the path leading to a realization that the kingdom of heaven is not out of reach, as Christ Jesus told us, but right here within our innate consciousness of infinite good.

I found myself convinced that Jesus’s command to his disciples, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons, freely ye have received, freely give,” was meant for all of us.  He knew that there is nothing more vital to us than the perpetual discernment and then the living of our divinely derived perfection—the kingdom within—and the blessing it brings of spiritual peace and healing.

Primary Class Instruction amplified my love for God and expanded it so that I could see clearly the vastness of Christian Science—its loving reach—and our ability as disciples of Christ to bring man’s birthright of freedom and harmony to this age.

I have lived in and loved four countries, worn the hats of a businesswoman, a mother, a college advisor for Christian Science organizations, and been a resident counselor for teens. My favorite of all: I entered the full-time practice of Christian Science in 2007 and took Normal Class to become a Teacher in 2015.
